“Failure is success if we learn from it.”

                                                            Malcolm Forbes

“Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom.”

                                                            George S. Patton

“Success is to be measured not so much by the position one has reached in life as by the obstacles he has overcome.”

                                                            Booker T. Washington

I recently met a wonderful entrepreneur who shared the family name Forbes and, while he was not related to Malcolm, we had a great conversation about our memories of this “wild man.”  Malcolm Forbes lived life to the fullest.  His business acumen was matched by his enthusiastic involvement in motorcycling, hot-air ballooning, collectables of all types and much, much more.

That conversation led to remembering the above quote and the quote led me to two more with similar messages.

There seems to be a lot of failure, bottoms and obstacles “out there” and directly in my experience of life.  It’s good to be reminded that those challenging conditions are just that … conditions.  Their reality is what we make of them.

Personally, I choose to hold them as temporary and opportunities to learn.  How about you?  Comments and questions welcome.
